An alternative to the 2-party system

Everyone complains about politics, and especially about the restrictions of a 2-party system. Well, it doesn't have to be that way, ya know. For instance, the Green Party is growing from the ground up (if you'll pardon the pun), and with every local win, the party becomes a more viable option for higher-up offices.

Quit yer complainin' and do something ....

I've been a green for a long time, now--totally against 2-party system. My concern, though, is that Republicans are so good at being footsoldiers, falling in line to elect their candidate, while we more liberal people can be fractious. Upshot often = Republicans winning. I try to vote green when I can, but I don't want another 8 years of damage, so it's a tough balance....

I know exactly what you mean, and it seems to me that the only answer is to build the Green Party (or any other 3rd party) up from the local level in order for it to be considered a legitimate political party.

At the state and the national level, I too often look at who I want to vote for and then who actually has a chance to win. Sadly they are usually notthe same person! And then one has to choose the lesser of two evils and cast a ballot for the least objectionable person who stands a chance to be elected....

So basically, let's all try to get folks from the Green Party elected into city and county and then state positions. That's where the momentum will come from.
